Plastic apperas not to be the biggest culprit on the picture
According to Eurostat the plastic waste represents about 19% of whole packaging waste. Same as glass. More than twice less than paper and cardboard. This is surprising as the public opinion points the plastic to be the biggest problem currently. Considering the plastic is more durable taking it's weight- strength ratio the gap looks even bigger. So maybe we have gone too far with demonising plastic? So the problem of packaging waste has shifted elsewhere (paper and cardboard). Please read the Eurostat article here
